does divergence really work

Hi All,
We often hear the word divergence and its used to exit the trades and to interpret the trend reversal. But does that really work?

All the indicators are derived based on the price. They simply show the rate of change with respect to the price, which means it is completely dependent on the way it is calculated(settings). So how can we know in advance which settings will give the most profitable divergence signals??

Please share your thoughts.

if only just looking for profit that is not too big and risky scared away even better if forex course. there are other investment businesses , precious metals, fixed deposits and other profitable and minimal risk
